VIDEO: LeBron the mentor? Shooting contest with young Lakers paints another story

We all know that this is the first time in over a decade that LeBron is not starting the season at the helm of a team with a legitimate claim at the title from the get-go. We also know that he came out and embraced the mentorship role he implicitly assumed by moving to the Lakers to play with a very young and inexperienced team.

Therefore, since he refused to put any pressure on the team by committing to ambitious goals for the season and also made sure to highlight the fact that he will take more of a teacher position within the team, the level of patience he displayed at the shoot-around with Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Lance Stephenson paints a slightly different picture.

In his defence, LeBron said that he is rather “impatient with himself” as well, but we do wonder how well he will manage to gel with the Laker youngsters in the upcoming season.
